This policy explains how TheGambia.com handles information about visitors. It applies to this website only, and not to any third-party site you reach from it.
What we collect
TheGambia.com is a static website. We do not run user accounts, we do not have a comment system, and we do not ask you to submit personal information anywhere on the site.
If you email us, we receive the address you write from and whatever you put in the message. We use it to answer you and we do not add it to any mailing list.
Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs — IP address, timestamp, page requested, browser user-agent — for security and operational purposes. These are retained for a limited period and are not used to build a profile of you.
Cookies and local storage
We set no advertising or analytics cookies of our own.
The site stores your chosen language in your browser’s local storage so that returning to the homepage takes you to the right version. It stays on your device, is never transmitted to us, and clearing your browser data removes it.
Third-party services embedded on the site — the GetYourGuide booking widget, and Google Fonts — may set their own cookies or record a request when you load a page. That processing is governed by their privacy policies, linked below.
Third-party services
- GetYourGuide — booking widgets and affiliate links. Clicking through passes our partner identifier and standard referral data so a booking can be attributed. See GetYourGuide’s privacy policy for how they process it.
- Accommodation booking partners — hotel search links in our where-to-stay guide. The same applies once you leave this site.
- Google Fonts — web fonts are requested from Google’s servers, which involves your IP address reaching Google.
- Netlify — hosting and content delivery, which involves standard server logging.
Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR gives you rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection in relation to personal data held about you.
In practice the only personal data we are likely to hold is an email you have sent us. To ask what we hold, or to have it deleted, write to [email protected] and we will act within one month.
Children
This site is intended for adults planning travel and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if our processing changes, and the “last updated” date above will change with it. Material changes will be summarised at the top of the page.
